Cubist painting of a man in earthy color with dark blue contour lines

Silencio (Silence)

“To date, Gerzso’s most definitive Cubist work had been Silencio (Silence) 1942. Painted with faceted forms and an earthen palette, although with striking blue contours indicative of Gerzso’s sensibility for color, Silencio plays with Analytic two-dimensional surface. By showing a figure both frontally and in profile with numerous hands, Gerzso suggested the visual sensation of perceiving multiple perspectives simultaneously.”
